Backup your G-Mail email and more
Didn't know you could do it? Of course you can. One of the conveniences of web-based email is that you can access it anywhere at anytime. However, if you experience a web outtage, you are out of luck. Luckily, you can backup and download your web email very easily. There are many services out there, my favorite is www.backupify.com. It allows you backup up to 5 accounts for free. You can also backup other services, such as Facebook or Twitter. For more check out the website or this CNET video.
If you want to backup Yahoo mail, you have to have a premium account (paid) to back it up. Sorry!
