Yes, you can get that window open again

Ever wish you could reopen that Windows Explorer folder you just closed by accident?  UndoClose can reopen both applications and folders after you've exited.

A free program that remembers all recently closed folders and applications, so that you can restore them in the same sequence in which they were closed using two hotkeys. In short, it enables you to open the last closed folder(s) and application(s) just like the way Firefox, Google Chrome and other browsers let you open the recently closed tab(s).

UndoClose supports two hotkey combinations; Ctrl+Shift+F and Ctrl+Shift+A, to open last closed folder (in Windows Explorer) and application, respectively. The hotkeys can be used multiple times. For example, if you close VLC Player, Notepad and iTunes, press Ctrl+Shift+A hotkey three times to launch VLC Player, Notepad and iTunes again.

UndoClose sits in the system tray after being launched and silently starts monitoring all folders and applications that are closed. It then helps you restore them using the hotkeys.

You can be a trivia God now!

Well, not really, but here is a website that will make getting answers to certain trivia questions as fast as your Internet connection.  Try www.whowonthe.com  It's quite simple.  The homepage has a search box with the line, "Who won the______.  You type in the question, it gives you the answer.  So if you want to know who won best actor in 1973 or who won the 1984 Stanley Cup, the site is for you.

Do we really need 2 more browsers to pick from?

A new report indicates that Facebook, fresh off its initial public offering, is in talks to acquire Web browser maker Opera Software.

Tech blog Pocket-lint, citing unnamed "trusted sources," reported that the social media giant is looking to buy Oslo, Norway-based Opera to expand into the browser space. In doing so, Facebook would be facing competition from the likes of Google, Microsoft, Mozilla, Apple — and even Yahoo, which just this week launched its own Axis browser.  Yahoo! debuts Axis, a web browser designed to take you directly from search to a web page.  From initial reviews, seems like it may stick around.

The question thus becomes, do we need all these browsers?  I have a hard enough time with the three most popular now.  I love Chrome, but I am reluctant to fully switch from Firefox because I have used it for so long, changing would be a pain.  I only use IE (Internet Explorer) because my employer optimizes my access to their website through IE.  I have little time and less enthusiasm in trying another browser, especially with those privacy champions, Facebook being one of the new ones (hint, add sarcasm to that sentence liberally).  At this point, the Facebook browser is a rumor, although one that Facebook has yet to silence.  As for Yahoo! and there browser, Axis, there are versions for iPad and iPhone, and plug-ins for the desktop browsers Chrome, Firefox, IE, and Safari.

Finally HP makes a product I can recommend

Got my hands on a HP Elitebook recently and I must say that HP got it right for a change (as opposed to how they get it wrong with pretty much all there inkjet printers and laptops).  This laptop is almost Apple like in construction and use.  For a technician, the most welcoming feature is that you can actually open the case of the laptop without picking up one screwdriver.  The whole entire underside comes off with the slide of a knob.  If they keep this up, I may actually have to recommend a HP laptop again.  Until then, stay away like a madman from the HP DV6000 and 9000 laptop line.  It is shameful how many people are trying to pawn them off on suckers on Craigslist.

If you cannot get it the easy way, at least run it a little easier

For some unknown reason, CCleaner mentions are big hits on my site.  Many of you know that I, and many others, are disappointed that you can no longer get CCleaner from Ninite.com, that you have to manually download newer versions.  Well, at least there is a way to automatically run CCleaner when you want to, as opposed to having to remember to do it.  Check out this CNET article that tells you how:

The Computer is so...pretty

It was so pretty that it took me 3 days to find a desk suitable to put it on.  Oh, I am talking about the Apple iMac that I recently purchased (21.5").  The whole experience of buying it is so cool.  I was in and out of the Apple store in 10 minutes.  I felt bad that I had the extra money in the meters being wasted.... Review to follow in the upcoming weeks.
