Do we really need 2 more browsers to pick from?

A new report indicates that Facebook, fresh off its initial public offering, is in talks to acquire Web browser maker Opera Software.
Tech blog Pocket-lint, citing unnamed "trusted sources," reported that the social media giant is looking to buy Oslo, Norway-based Opera to expand into the browser space. In doing so, Facebook would be facing competition from the likes of Google, Microsoft, Mozilla, Apple — and even Yahoo, which just this week launched its own Axis browser. Yahoo! debuts Axis, a web browser designed to take you directly from search to a web page. From initial reviews, seems like it may stick around. The question thus becomes, do we need all these browsers? I have a hard enough time with the three most popular now. I love Chrome, but I am reluctant to fully switch from Firefox because I have used it for so long, changing would be a pain. I only use IE (Internet Explorer) because my employer optimizes my access to their website through IE. I have little time and less enthusiasm in trying another browser, especially with those privacy champions, Facebook being one of the new ones (hint, add sarcasm to that sentence liberally). At this point, the Facebook browser is a rumor, although one that Facebook has yet to silence. As for Yahoo! and there browser, Axis, there are versions for iPad and iPhone, and plug-ins for the desktop browsers Chrome, Firefox, IE, and Safari.
