Morph your photos for free

If you are unfamiliar with morphing, think back to a musical group called Cream and a video they made back in the day called "Cry".  The whole video consisted of people's faces being "morphed" into another face.   I know that I may be dating myself with the Cream reference, so I will refer you a more recent example of morphing.  The end of Michael Jackson's video, "Black and White" was a good example of morphing.  Well, you can now morph for free with your own photos.  Try Fotomorph.  I think it gets a bit boring after awhile, but it's still so cool.

Compare cameras before you buy

It's a lot easier than you may think.  Try Camerasize.com to compare cameras.  Camera Size is a free online digital camera comparison tool. This web application was designed to help you compare one camera's size relative to another camera, and view each camera from different sides. The site is being continuously updated with new camera models, so you can compare the size of older cameras with the latest models.  This site is similar to a previous post about a website that does the same thing, just with smartphones.

How to find your Product Key for Software you installed

We have all done it, purchased software, installed it and threw the DVD case in the corner of the closet.  Months later you want to reinstall that software on another computer and you cannot find the Product key, what do you do?  If you can't find your product key, but the software is installed, try Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder, which can locate the keys for Windows and many installed programs that have Product Keys.  Once installed, you simply run it.  It will present a list of programs installed on your computer and the corresponding CD key, along with other information that typically is not necessary to write down.  Yes, it's free for the basic version that can scan for 300 hundred different programs.

Easeus Todo Backup Free

I really do not mind having my advice on backing up ignored, it keeps my phone ringing with people who ignored me and regret it later.  However, professional ethics require me to keep everyone informed on the many options of backing up your personal files, either online or onsite (preferably both).  Try Easeus Todo Backup Free.  Currently one of the most competant free backup programs, Version 3 brings several great features to the casual user.  It schedules and performs incremental and differential backups, images your system partition from within Windows (or pay some retail store that will remain nameless $100 to do this).  It's a great program at a better price that does a good job of just backing up your data.  Try it here.

The one thing Apple apparently can't get right..

iTunes on windows.  This has got to be the buggiest program on Windows since RealPlayer.  If it were not for wifi updating, I would not have any content on my iPad and iPhone.  I hate iTunes as much as I love my iPad and iPhone.  It's so bad that I am beginning to think that Apple does not want it to work.  My mini rant of the day, hopefully it will get better.

Attention: Microsoft does not call you....ever

Periodically an old scam will come back as a new scam and today was an example.   One of my dear customers got a cold call from "Microsoft" claiming that they detected several issues with her computer and were calling to help out.  After tinkering with the computer online for a bit, my dear customer got wise when they requested her credit card number for some bogus software that was going to fix what they intentionally screwed up.  Reminder, Microsoft does not call anyone offering to help you with your Windows issues.  Never.  Never.  Now they will call you to remind you that your technet subscription is expiring and would you like to renew over the phone (gotten a few of those calls).  Just hang up when you get a cold call about your computer.
