Add an Uninstall Option to any icon of an installed program

We all experience this annoyance, you want to uninstall a program, but you have to go to Control Panel, then to Programs..on and on.  Would be nice to simply right click the icon of the program on your desktop and uninstall it that way.  Well now you can.  Try Menu-Uninstaller from LeizerSoft.  The software is simple enough, install it and now you have an uninstall option in the context menu when you right-click the icon for an installed program.  It's compatible with Windows XP, Vista and 7 and yes, it's free!

Boy did Netflix catch a break

Recently Netflix announced a loss of over 800,000 subscribers since an announced rate hike.  Many wondered why they would raise prices so much with such a loyal customer base.  As a result of this hike, many have fled.  Seems like they may come back a little.  One rival, Redbox seems poised to help Netflix get those customers back by announcing a 20% rate hike for DVD rentals.  Starting Monday, October 31, 2011 (how ironic), DVD rentals will go from the current $1.00 to $1.20.  Personally I think the most annoying part of this rate hike is the uneven increment of .20 cents.  Now you got to deal with change at that box.

Quick tip: Never leave your email in a comment section

Don't put your email address in comments on blog posts. Don't put it in Facebook comments. You may have set Facebook for privacy, but your friends haven't. Don't include the address in plain text on your own Web site; use an image. Spammers send Web crawlers to harvest exposed email addresses and fill your Inbox with ads for Canadian drugs and Russian girls.

'Anonymous' does something good, very good...

The hacking group, 'Anonymous' has made a ton of news over the past couple of months for hacking governments, law enforcement agencies and financial institutions.  Their work has been admired and shunned at the same time.  Well, I think their most recent actions will be universally admired by the world.  The group has gone after child pornography websites.  Crashing many and disclosing the names of the patrons of those sites.  Utilizing a brute force attack, the infiltrated a server that hosted over 40 child pornography sites.  They also released the names of almost 1600 individuals who were engaging in the trafficking of child pornography.  For more, check out the PCMag article here.

The reason why Ninite dropped CCleaner, Defraggler and Recuva

My favorite site to install essential free applications, ninite.com recently dropped Piriform's CCleaner, Defraggler and Recuva.  For those unaware, ninite.com is an aggregate site that allows you to choose multiple programs to install at once.  No crapware, just a simple automated installation of multiple applications.  CCleaner is one of the best system cleaners around and now it is no more on ninite.com.  The reason has finally come out, although previously suspected.  Piriform asked that the programs be removed due to ninite's policy of not installing any secondary software with the program.  Piriform is upset that you will not accidentally install one of the toolbars that accompanies the software.  I say accidentally because most people do not read all of the screens when installing software, if they did, they would uncheck the screen telling you that some unwanted software is about to install along with the program you actually want.  Kudos to ninite to not giving in.

Getting Arrested? There is an app for that...

Inspired by the Occupy Wall Street movement, an app has been created for Android to alert your friends or contacts (or more importantly, lawyer) that you have been arrested.  It will GPS your location and send out a customized text to whomever you deem appropriate to get it.  Of course my philosophical view of this is to not get arrested and if I were, my last thought would be sending out a text message about the event, but some of us think different.  Read more here.
