Black Friday gone wild

I never really got into Black Friday.  Mainly because many of the deals available are available almost any other day if you look, but this story has convinced me to forever stay home.  According to the LA Times, a shopper went extra lengths to make sure she got her Black Friday deal.  According to accounts, once Wal-Mart opened the doors at 10PM, she proceeded to pepper spray many of her fellow shoppers.  In the melee, she was able to get to her electronics, buy and escape.  Amazing...for the audacity of such an act....and the creativity.  Maybe she was taking her cue from the police in all the Occupy Wall Street protests.

Amazon and the Penny Pincher sale, 1 week only

If you are looking for a cheap smartphone, Amazon is your place to go for now.  Amazon has launched a Penny Pincher sale, which offers up several top Android, BlackBerry and Windows Phone smartphones for one U.S. cent with a new two-year contract on Sprint, Verizon or AT&T.

The sale does have its limitations, though. Amazon isn't offering top-of-the-line Android-powered Galaxy Nexus, or the Apple iPhone, and the deep discount only applies to activations of new lines, not contract renewals. If you're sticking with your current provider, this sale is not for you; for customers signing up with one of the big three carriers for the first time, however, the one-week sale on smartphones is a great opportunity to get an excellent deal on a new handset.

Another free way to email large files

One of our epic pains is that your typical email provider will not allow you to send files in excess of about 10MB.  Most of us are not impacted by this, but the sophisticated user is annoyed.  If you have serious work and need to send large files, you are stuck, at least you were.  Abobe introduces Sendnow, a service that simplifies emailing large files.  All you do is upload the file to their server, a notice is sent to the receiving party, they download it, that's it.  For files up to 100MB, it's free.  If you need more capacity, they have tiered pricing plans.  If you want free file transfer up to 2GB, try Wetransfer.com.  It may be a better site, but at least you now have a choice.

Google definitely has nerve

On the eve of announcing a new music store, Google has simultaneously managed to make the recording industry happy and angry at the same time.  With the new music store expected to be announced tomorrow, we have one more option of a place to buy music.  The recording industry supports any store that may take a bite out of iTunes.  However, Google has also developed the smartphone operating system Android.  Over the past couple of weeks, a new app has come along that has consumers delighted and the industry angry.  MP3 Music Downloader Pro is a hit.  What does it do?  It allows you download copyrighted music without paying for it.  Consider it Napster re-born for your smartphone.

Google has "refused" to remove MP3 Music Download Pro, a popular app for downloading copyrighted music from the Android Market, according to the Recording Industry Association of America. The RIAA sent Google a takedown notice for the app in August, and Google refused to take action. Other similar apps, such as Easy MP3 Downloader and MP3 Music Download Super, are also available through the Android Market.

MP3 Music Download Pro sniffs out songs from the Web's dark corners and makes them available for streaming or download. It is currently the forth most popular Android app, according to Google's Android Market.
